Welcome to the 2006 TLA Geocaching Challange

Cache 09: Temagami - Obabika Inlet Cache

Lat: N 47° 03.449 Long: W 080° 10.070

Short Description:

This is a regular cache located on a road system that we call "The 400". Back when Wendy's parents used to trailer camp in the area, this became known as the 400 because of the amount of traffic that used to travel it. There will be no traffic on it now as the road is blocked off at the Eagle river on Red Squirrel Lake road. This road would take you right through to Elk Lake.

Long Description:

You are looking for a clear plastic jar with a red lid. You can do this cache over land but not easily it will be a very long hike if you do it without a boat (about a 28 km trek from where the road is blocked at the Eagle River). No motorized traffic is allowed down that road during the summer months (skidoo access is allowed in the winter) - Bicycles are legal, but I'm not going to comment on the condition of the trail as I have never traveled it in the summer.

Once again, the easiest way will be by boat to get to this cache. It is a very short walk down a very good trail from the campsite. There is a brand new box privy at this site if you need it.

Please re-hide the cache well.

This cache is a traditional cache and of course open to every one to hunt and trade from.

This Cache is also part of the Temagami Lakes Association (TLA) 2006 Geocaching challenge. Inside the cache there is a one of 10 special paper punches that are being used for the contest and cachers are asked to please leave the punch in the cache for the duration of this sub-game. It is clearly labeled and instructions are inside the cache.

If you'd like to participate in the game and possibly win a prize, you can pick up the official rules and the official punch cards at the TLA building at the end of the Temagami Lake Access Road or visit www.tlccnet.com/tlageo. The contest is open to everyone and there are a lot of great prizes to win. The game will take place from the beginning of June until the End of August, 2006.
